Location: Remote working, with daily travel within Coventry and Warwickshire
Hours: 18 hours per week
Salary: Community Based Bereavement Support Worker - £23,500 - £25,500 (£11,750 - £12,750)
Community Based Bereavement Counsellor - £25,500 - £27,500 (£12,750 - £13,750)
Contract: initial 12-month fixed term
Reporting to: Delivery Team Leader

About Guy’s Gift
Guy’s Gift supports children, young people and families who are experiencing bereavement, loss and change. Our work is rooted in compassion, respect and the belief that every child deserves support during difficult times.
We are now looking for a Community Based Bereavement Support Worker or Community Based Bereavement Counsellor to join our team. This role provides compassionate, child-centred support to children, young people and families affected by bereavement, helping them to navigate grief, build resilience and access support within their communities.
About the Role
This role plays an important part in delivering direct support to bereaved children and young people across Coventry and Warwickshire.
Working closely with the Delivery Team Leader and wider team, the post holder will provide support through group work, one-to-one bereavement support or counselling, and Support to Support pathways for families and professionals.
A central aspect of the role is helping children and young people access the most appropriate support in a timely and meaningful way, including contributing to assessments with families and helping identify suitable pathways of support.
This is a community-based role requiring independence, professional judgement and the ability to build positive relationships across a range of settings including schools, community venues and family environments.
You will be joining a small, reflective and supportive team where collaboration, compassion and safe practice are central to how we work.

Key Responsibilities
Delivering bereavement group work programmes for children and young people
Providing one-to-one support or counselling where allocated and appropriate
Offering Support to Support guidance to families, schools and professionals
Undertaking referral calls, assessments and review sessions with families
Managing a caseload and maintaining accurate case records
Working collaboratively with colleagues, schools and community partners
Supporting safe endings, transitions or handovers of support
Attending supervision, training and team meetings
About You
We’re looking for someone who:
Has experience supporting children and young people in a professional setting
Is confident building relationships with children, families and professionals
Has experience of group work, one-to-one support or counselling
Brings empathy, sound judgement and professional boundaries
Is organised and able to manage work independently across community settings
Communicates clearly and sensitively in emotionally difficult situations
Is reflective, reliable and open to supervision and development
