Family Contact Support Volunteer
This role plays a really important part in how families begin their journey with Guy’s Gift.
As a Family Contact Support Volunteer, you’ll be making gentle, supportive phone calls to parents and carers to arrange an initial assessment call with our team. For many families, this may be their first direct contact with us, so a warm, patient and understanding approach makes all the difference.
Why this role matters
Your calls help ensure families can access support as smoothly and quickly as possible.
A friendly voice at this stage can help families feel reassured, listened to, and confident about taking the next step. As noted in our volunteer guide, this is often “the first interaction someone has with the charity”
What we’re looking for
A calm, friendly and empathetic manner
Confidence speaking on the phone
Sensitivity when speaking with families who may be grieving
Reliability and attention to detail
A willingness to take your time and not feel rushed
Time commitment
This role is flexible and can fit around your availability.
Typically, it involves around 1–1.5 hours per week, making calls at times that work for you.
