Fundraising Support Volunteer

Fundraising plays a vital role in enabling Guy’s Gift to continue supporting children, young people and families following bereavement.

As a Fundraising Support Volunteer, you’ll be helping to identify opportunities and build connections that allow this work to continue. It’s a flexible, behind-the-scenes role that makes a real difference to how many families we’re able to support.

Why this role matters

By helping to identify potential funding opportunities and partnerships, you’re supporting the sustainability of the charity’s services.

As highlighted in our volunteer guide, fundraising is essential to ensuring that more families can access support when they need it, making this a meaningful way to contribute, even if you’re not working directly with families.

What you’ll be doing

  • Researching charitable trusts and grant-making organisations

  • Identifying funding opportunities that align with our work

  • Contacting local businesses about potential partnerships (e.g. Charity of the Year)

  • Sending initial enquiries using guidance from the team

  • Sharing potential opportunities with staff for follow-up

You’ll be contributing to the early stages of fundraising, with staff managing relationships and applications.

What we’re looking for

  • An organised and thoughtful approach

  • Confidence with online research

  • Clear and professional written communication

  • An interest in supporting the long-term sustainability of the charity

  • A willingness to follow guidance and work as part of a team

Time commitment

This role is flexible and can fit around your availability.

Typically, it involves around 2 hours per week, which can be done at times that suit you.

What support you’ll receive

  • Guidance from the fundraising team on where to focus

  • Clear information about how to represent the charity

  • Support with any questions or uncertainties

  • A chance to be part of a collaborative and supportive team

You won’t be expected to manage relationships or make commitments on behalf of the charity—staff will take the lead on this.

What you’ll need

  • Access to a computer and internet

  • Good attention to detail and record-keeping

  • Respect for confidentiality and data protection

  • A basic understanding of the charity’s work (support provided)
