Social Media Support Volunteer

As a Social Media Support Volunteer, you’ll help Guy’s Gift connect with people online.

By supporting our social media activity, you’ll help raise awareness of the support available, so more children, young people and families know where to turn when they need it.

Why this role matters

For many people, social media is the first place they come across the charity.

As highlighted in our volunteer guide, clear, thoughtful and sensitive content can help people feel more comfortable learning about bereavement and accessing support .

Your work helps ensure that what people see online feels approachable, supportive, and easy to understa

What You’ll Be Doing

Depending on your interests and availability, you might:

  • Draft social media posts using agreed messaging

  • Help create simple content (text, captions, images)

  • Share updates about services, events, and campaigns

  • Support scheduling or organising content

  • Help ensure information is clear, accurate, and accessible

  • Work alongside the team to maintain a consistent tone and message

You’ll always be guided on what to post and how to communicate.

What we’re looking for

  • A clear and thoughtful communication style

  • Attention to detail

  • An understanding of tone and sensitivity

  • Interest in social media or content creation

  • Willingness to follow guidance and ask questions

You don’t need previous experience. Support and guidance will be provided.

Time commitment

This role is flexible, depending on agreed tasks and your availability.

What support you’ll receive

  • Guidance on tone, messaging, and content

  • Support from the team when creating or sharing posts

  • Clear processes for reviewing and approving content

  • Ongoing support if you’re unsure about anything

You’ll never be expected to manage difficult or sensitive situations alone.

Boundaries of the role

This role is about sharing information, not providing support directly.

You won’t be expected to:

  • Respond to complex or sensitive messages

  • Provide advice or counselling

  • Post anything without guidance or approval

If anything feels uncertain, you’ll always be able to check with the team.

A gentle note

Because of the nature of the work, some content or responses may touch on sensitive topics.

You’ll be supported in how to approach this, and it’s always okay to pause and ask for guidance.

Interested?

If this feels like something you’d enjoy, we’d love to hear from you for an informal chat.
